Inter Milan could be bracing for an unexpected twist in the transfer market, with Denzel Dumfries emerging as a potential departure before mid-July.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the Dutch right back has a €30 million release clause in his current contract.
While no formal approaches have yet been made, the relatively modest price point is understood to be drawing interest.
Dumfries has been a consistent performer for Inter, making his possible exit a scenario that would not be easy to manage. The club has not received any indications of intent from the player’s camp, but they remain vigilant.
Manchester United’s interest in the player was first mentioned before the start of the transfer window, in April.
The report claimed the Red Devils were eyeing a senational double raid for Inter’s Denzel Dumfries and Yann Bisseck. Since that report there have been no concrete links to the Dutchman.
For Inter, the strategy seems clear. Following the arrivals of Luka Sucic, Luis Henrique and Mehdi Bonny, as well as the promotion of Pio Esposito, further signings will depend on departures.
The next few weeks could therefore prove decisive. With Dumfries potentially one phone call away from an exit, Inter’s plans may yet need reshaping again.
For €30 million, signing Dumfries would be a no-brainer for Man United.
At 29, he offers experience, physicality and a relentless engine—traits that could suit the aggressive, high-tempo system Ruben Amorim is expected to implement.
Quick over the ground, strong in one-on-ones and a consistent outlet on the overlap, Dumfries would bring immediate quality to United’s right flank.
If the club are serious, they should act fast—before someone else does.
