Manchester United Women are in discussions to sign their third player of the summer.
Two major additions so far
The Red Devils have a huge season coming up as they hope to get past PSV Eindhoven to secure their place in this season’s Champions League.
They have already signed former Bayern Munich midfielder Julia Zigiotti Olme to bolster the centre of the park.
Earlier in the week, they also completed a deal to sign former Barcelona left winger Fridolina Rolfö on a free transfer.
Giovanna Hoffmann interest
Marc Skinner’s side have been impressive in pre-season, especially in their latest 8-0 victory over Real Betis yesterday.
Nonetheless, most people would accept the squad is still one or two players light as they aim to make a serious charge in the Champions League and for the Women’s Super League title.
Subsequently, The BBC report that “Manchester United are in discussions to sign Germany forward Giovanna Hoffmann from Red Bull Leipzig.”
Hoffmann only has one year left on her current deal, so United will be looking to strike a favourable deal.
Crucial experience
United are a young, exciting team but this window has seen the addition of experience with the 27-year-old Olme and the 31-year-old Rolfo.
Hoffmann is 26-years-old and has played her entire career in Germany, representing Werder Bremen and SC Freiburg before moving to Leipzig last year.
She also appeared in all of Germany’s five Euro 2025 games, starting the quarter and semi-final.
Hoffmann scored 11 goals in 21 matches last season for Leipzig as her side finished 8th in the Frauen-Bundesliga.
The German attacker has been described as a player with “sharp attacking instincts and versatility” and should significantly add to United’s exciting attack.
