United’s pull remains unparalleled as 26-yo superstar ready to join despite no CL – report

Manchester United are in the frame to sign Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.

Donnarumma is regarded as one of the best shot-stoppers in Europe, having played a heroic role in PSG’s Champions League glory.

Still, his future in the French capital has come into question due to his dwindling contract. His current deal at Parc des Princes is set to expire in less than 12 months.

However, PSG have made little progress in their bid to renew his contract, with the Italy international reluctant to lower his wage demands. As such, Luis Enrique’s side are set to sign Lille’s highly-rated goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier to possibly replace their current number one.

Manchester United monitoring Donnarumma

According to Teamtalk, United are “being kept informed” on his situation, with the Red Devils “viewing him as a serious target.”

It is claimed figures at Old Trafford consider his age “ideal” and his profile “impressive” for the club’s current goalkeeping dynamics.

The 26-year-old, meanwhile, is understood to be “interested in joining Man Utd due to the stature of the club.”

Having proven his mettle at powerhouses like AC Milan and PSG, he is ready for the level of responsibility in Manchester.

Recently, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming United held talks with the Ligue 1 outfit over a potential summer deal for Donnarumma.

Manchester United unlikely to spend big on goalkeeper

The Mancunians may struggle to meet PSG’s demands. Earlier this window, United explored the possibility of signing Emiliano Martinez from Aston Villa. However, eventually they decided to rule out a move for the Argentine due to Villa’s demands.

United are prioritising strengthening their attack, and are likely to spend a considerable fee on a striker. It has emerged that they are ready to match Newcastle United’s offer for Benjamin Sesko.

Teamtalk further report that Donnarumma’s signing is considered “very difficult” at the moment, and any deal may hinge on whether United can offload Andre Onana.
