Manchester United loanee Dan Gore has faced the wrath of his boss, Matt Hamshaw, at Rotherham United.
Huge season
The United youngster starred in the academy in his younger years but his career has stalled lately.
He first went out on loan to Port Vale in 2024 but only managed one game before having to leave the club due to a serious injury.
Gore was then given another chance to join Rotherham in 2025 but once again struggled to make a mark as he returned to Manchester after just one game with a hairline foot fracture.
Rotherham have given Gore another chance to impress this year by agreeing to loan him this year.
He has already played three matches this season from the start and will hope to gain as many minutes as possible, in what will be a crucial year for the 20-year-old’s development.
Harsh words
Nonetheless, Gore has found it tough going in his first few matches and even missed a penalty in his side’s shootout victory over Salford in the Carabao cup.
His boss at Rotherham was not so impressed with the penalty miss and in comments carried by Manchester World he criticised his attempt.
Speaking to reporters at full time Hamshaw stated, “I’ve just said to Dan Gore: ‘Good luck taking a penalty at Old Trafford when you can’t score one at Salford!’”
He also went on to praise his goalkeeper claiming he was confident he would stop at least a couple of attempts.
Whilst the comments were probably meant as a joke, it was probably not the best thing to say to a youngster who is likely low in confidence due to the lack of luck he has so far experienced in his senior career.
Gore will aim to bounce back when Rotherham travel to face Cardiff City in League One this afternoon.
