Man United target drops three-word transfer update after World Cup admission

Manchester United are among the Premier League clubs said to be interested in Sunderland midfielder Noah Sadiki

Manchester United have been linked with a summer transfer swoop for Sunderland star Noah Sadiki throughout the campaign, and the DR Congo international has kept his cards close to his chest regarding a possible move. The Black Cats midfielder has been one of the standout performers for Regis Le Bris’s side, who can still qualify for European football.

Sunderland were the favourites to go straight back down to the Championship after winning the play-offs last season, but smart summer recruitment, combined with a mix of experience, has them in contention for a late European push.

Sadiki has been a key part of Sunderland’s success this season, after arriving in the summer from Belgian side Union Saint-Gilloise. Chelsea, United and Liverpool have all been linked with a move for Sadiki in recent weeks.

Speaking to Belgian outlet La Dernière Heure after a return to USG, Sadiki kept his cards close to his chest about his future.

Reflecting on his first season in English football and the upcoming World Cup, he said: “It is amazing to experience everything that is happening to me now.

“Everything went so fast: the transfer to England just after the title in Belgium, and then immediately a starter in England. I haven’t even had time to really realise what has happened since my departure from Union SG.

“I talk about Union in England; the English know who they are and couldn’t ignore the performances in the Champions League.

“My future? I still have two matches to play with Sunderland, then the World Cup, which will be very special for the Congolese people. And as for the rest, we’ll see next season when the time is right.”

Manchester United are looking to bolster their midfield this summer with Casemiro leaving the club at the end of his contract.

The Reds know they have big boots to fill when it comes to replacing the Brazilian midfielder, with the likes of Sandro Tonali, Elliot Anderson, Carlos Baleba and Joao Gomes all linked with a move to Old Trafford.

The Manchester Evening News understands Sunderland do not wish to sell Sadiki this summer, but would not stand in his way if an offer arrives that meets their valuation.

The Black Cats are braced for interest in several of their key players, having performed so well in their maiden campaign back in the top flight after an eight-year absence, with Robin Roefs also attracting interest from Premier League clubs.
